Company History

OiLSERV was founded in 2006 in Erbil, Iraq by Amjad Barzandji. The company started modestly with one used cementing unit and a clear objective: to become a world-class oilfield services company serving the entire Middle East North Africa region. OiLSERV recognized that the key to achieving this ambitious goal was attracting top-quality industry experts across functions and at all organizational levels to establish a culture of service quality and client focus from day one.

Since then, OiLSERV has grown to become a truly multi-disciplined regional oilfield services provider in the Middle East and North Africa. We offer 11 established service lines, each with its own distinct business structure and resources. This expansion illustrates OiLSERV’s commitment to service quality and ability to responsibly manage exponential growth. Today, OiLSERV is the only indigenous and regional oilfield services company offering a comprehensive technology profile and services comparable to those of longstanding global oilfield services companies.

OilSERV Timeline and History

GEOGRAPHIC Expansion

  • In 2009, OiLSERV focused our expansion efforts within Iraq, where we began offering complete oilfield services to southern and central Iraq. We built a state-of-the-art base in Basra, Iraq on a site encompassing 100,000 square meters.
  • In 2010, OiLSERV made our first regional acquisition, acquiring Golden Algar Oilfield Services in Libya and expanding our full service line to serve the Libyan oil and gas industry. Today, the company has two operating bases in the Libyan desert and offices in Tripoli.
  • In 2011, OiLSERV established branches in Tunisia and several other countries in the Middle East North Africa region.

Financing Growth

Sourcing financing from long-term institutional investors has been instrumental to achieving OiLSERV’s ambitious growth plans. In addition to our founder, who is the major shareholder, and OiLSERV’s executive management team, the company has the following investors as equity shareholders:

  • One of the largest sovereign investment funds in the Arabian Gulf region

OiLSERV currently has one of the largest privately owned fleets of brand-new oilfield equipment in the Middle East North Africa region to provide services including cementing, open-hole logging, cased-hole logging, coiled tubing services, surface testing, DST, directional drilling, mud logging, and slickline services. The company’s 850 employees representing 38 different nationalities, from experienced senior executives to seasoned field crew members, all share the same aspirations and are relevant stakeholders.
